In 10 of the 16 big events in our study, NEPSE was already moving that way before the event. Down before the lockdown, down before the floods.
The 2021–22 liquidity crunch was the same. By the time rates passed 6%, NEPSE was already 17% below its 3,227 peak. At 8.5%, it was 41% down. The market fell first; the liquidity news came later.
